Sports Programs
ADSA) offers a variety of sport programs that recognize athlete achievements and support ongoing development within the Deaf sports community. ADSA celebrates excellence through its annual awards, including the Jo Anne Robinson Youth of the Year Award, Female Athlete of the Year, and Male Athlete of the Year, which honor outstanding performance, leadership, and dedication to sport. In addition to recognition programs, ADSA provides education opportunities for members through coaching and referee training to help develop future leaders in sport. The association also offers training and clinic sponsorship opportunities to support athletes in improving their skills and preparing for higher levels of competition at national and international events. These programs help strengthen the Deaf sports community across Alberta and encourage continued growth and participation.

Jo-Anne Robinson Youth of the Year
Introducing the Jo-Anne Robinson Youth Athlete Award!
In honour of Jo-Anne, founder of Alberta Deaf Sports Association in 1974 and beloved member of our deaf community. An athlete, feminist, writer and leader.
This award is given to exceptional deaf & hard-of-hearing student-athletes of Alberta.
The award will consist of $250.00 per youth once in their lifetime to go towards their sport and leadership endeavors.

Female and Male Athlete of the Year

Our Athlete of the Year awards are given to exceptional deaf & hard-of-hearing ADSA athletes.
The winners will be announced at our AGM this spring.

Education
ADSA is pleased to offer opportunities for its members to participate in coaching and referee training programs. These initiatives are designed to support ADSA members who are interested in developing their leadership, officiating, and sport development skills within the Deaf sports community. By providing access to specialized training, ADSA aims to empower members to become certified coaches and referees, strengthen their knowledge of sport rules and best practices, and contribute to the growth of Deaf sports across Alberta. These opportunities are available exclusively to ADSA members, helping build a strong network of trained leaders who can support athletes and sporting events within the community
Training/Clinic
ADSA provides valuable training/clinic sponsorship to support the continued development of its athletes. These programs are designed to help ADSA athletes improve their skills, gain advanced sport knowledge, and prepare for higher levels of competition. Through specialized coaching, structured training sessions, and skill-building clinics, athletes can strengthen their performance and confidence. ADSA is committed to helping athletes from Alberta reach their full potential and be better prepared to compete at national and international events, representing their province and the Deaf sports community with pride.
